Newest MinisterPlease welcome Joseph Mann, our newest Hospitality Minister. Joseph was recruited by Lauretta Callender and had his orientation on 6/29. He last served the parish as an altar server. Joseph will minister at the 5 PM Saturday vigil mass. Newer MinistersMeet some of our Hospitality ministers that have begun their journey in the ministry within the last year. Olga Holmberg joined the ministry in December '03. She is currently ministering at the 6:30 PM mass. CouplesOur ministers include couples who choose to share their time together in the ministry. Chuck and Lauretta Callender have been in the ministry since 1986. Lauretta was the first female to join the ministry; Chuck and Lauretta were the first couple involved in the transformation of the ministry from "ushers" to "Hospitality Ministers." They have previously served as Coordinators and other capacities. Lauretta is also coordinating the altar servers. They are currently ministering at the 5 PM Saturday vigil and 9:30 Sunday masses. Joseph and Elaine Choi have been in the ministry for over three years. They are currently ministering at the 9:30 mass. Ray and Jeanie Gahagan have been in the ministry quite some time. Ray is a past Member at Large. They are currently ministering at the 5:30 Saturday mass. Carroll (Doc) and Marilyn Sweet were asked to join the ministry by Lauretta Callender. They have been in the ministry since 1992. They have previously served as Coordinators and in other capacities. Maryilyn said they are still in the ministry because they get such a reward from making people feel welcome. They are currently ministering at the 6:30 PM mass. Other MinistersRolly Arenz joined the ministry in March '03. He is still active in Boy Scout Troop 660. Rolly is currently serving as the Hospitality Minister Coordinator. He is ministering at the 9:30 mass. Vern Schuster has been in the ministry since 2001 here at St. I's. He began as an altar server in North Dakota at the age of 7. As an altar server, he was sometimes asked to do the collection. This is what started Vern in the ministry. He has been doing it ever since (for 68 years). Vern is ministering at the 6:30 AM Sunday mass. He says if he could get up and go to the 6 AM mass in the snow in North Dakota in 0 degree weather, he can make the 6:30 AM mass at St. I's. Norma Middaugh has been in the ministry for 8 years. She is ministering at the 8:30 mass. Very Veteran MinistersGene Kennedy has been in the St. I's ministry for over 28 years. He ministered in other parishes for 17 years prior to St. I's. Gene first entered the Hospitality Ministry over 45 years ago because someone asked him and he said, "Yes." He says the ministry is what keeps him going. Gene is ministering at the 6:30 AM Sunday mass. Gene makes the first pot of coffee for the coffee and donuts in the patio every Sunday morning. Luigi Cantacessi has been in the ministry for over 20 years. He has served as Hospitality Minister Coordinator. Luigi is currently ministering at the 8:30 mass. Farnie and Pat Luistro serve in the ministry together. Farnie has been in the ministry since 1980. He was in a near fatal auto accident. In his way of thanking the Lord for saving his life, Farnie decided to serve the Lord in the Hospitality Ministry. Pat joined Farnie in the ministry in 1996.
