I. NAME: St. Irenaeus Hospitality Ministry
II. VISION/GOALS (Vision Statement):
Ministers of Hospitality set the tone of welcome and help to create a sense that "something important is happening" as the parish community gathers for worship. Our primary task is to honor the dignity of each member of the Body and encourage a sense of belonging within the assembly. By efficiently taking care of our ministerial tasks, we allow people to feel at home.
Love your fellow Christians always.
Do not neglect to show hospitality, for by that means some have entertained angels without knowing it. (Hebrews 13: 1, 2)
III. MEMBERSHIP:
A.
CALL - By virtue of our Baptism, all members of St. Irenaeus Parish
Community are called to the service of our brothers and sisters. Through God's grace, individuals and couples are
called to the specific Ministry of Hospitality. That call is the work of the Holy Spirit.
B.
DISCERNMENT - Because of the demands of this Ministry, a time of prayer
and reflection is strongly suggested before answering the call to the Ministry of Hospitality. It is important
that couples and individuals clearly discern that this is where God and the parish community are calling them to
be of service.
C.
ONGOING FORMATION - The performance of ministerial service at weekend
Mass is only a small part of the commitment to ministry. Ongoing formation (ministry meetings, days/evenings of
recollection, diocesan events and parish adult education opportunities) is vital to the spiritual sustenance of
all ministers.
