 St. I's Hospitality Ministry History

Up to the mid-1980s, the ministry was known as "ushers" and was comprised of Knights of Columbus members. Pastor John Keller and the Parish Council, reflecting the desires of the parishioners, wanted more diversity in the ministry and to broaden its scope. They encouraged the ministry to include male and female members. Lauretta Callender was one of the first to "integrate" the ministry. The ministry name was formally changed to Hospitality Ministry.

A new charter was created under the direction of Father John McAndrew. Chuck and Lauretta Callender were the first Coordinators to serve under the new charter. The ministry continues to operate according to this charter.
