St. I's Hospitality Ministry June '04 Meeting Minutes

HOSPITALITY MEETING ON JUNE 8, 2004

The meeting was held at the Omega Restaurant in Anaheim on Lincoln between
Knott and Western. Dinner was served starting at 7 PM. The meeting was called
to order and presided over by Connie Holloway at 8:10 PM.
Dee Logan brought in the opening prayer.

PARENTS PRAYER

They are only little once, LORD. Grant me the wisdom and patience to teach
them to follow in your footsteps and prepare them for what is to come.
They are little once, LORD. Make me take the time to play pretend, to read
or tell a story, to cuddle. Don't let me for one minute think anything is more
important than the school play, the recital, the big game, fishing, or the
quiet walk hand in hand. All too soon, LORD, they will grow away and there is
no turning back. Let me have my memories with no regrets.
Please help me to be a good parent, LORD. When I must discipline, let me do
it in love, let me be firm, but fair; let me correct and explain with
patience. They are growing away, LORD. While I have the chance, let me do my best
for them. For the rest of our lives, please, LORD, let me be their very best
friend.

THANK YOU’S
Connie thanked all those who were responsible for helping with the 5 PM
Sunday Teen Mass when the teens do not show for service.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. BASKETS:
Baskets are not being returned to the proper place after the Offertory
collection. Baskets have been found sitting with donations in the back not
delivered to the main Offertory basket. Hospitality need to check that ALL
baskets are returned. Care needs to be taken in sections 5 and 6 since these
sections have an odd number of aisles. What seems to be happening is the last row
gives the basket to those standing on the sides and back and that basket never
gets back to the main basket. Hospitality Ministers need to check when
picking up their baskets that they are bringing the same amount that they passed
out to the Offertory basket.

2. WHEN TO BE IN PLACE:
Ministers are asked to go to the front when with their baskets when
the lector approaches the pulpit and starts announcing the petitions and deaths
of parishioners.

3. ALTAR SERVERS:
Lauretta Callendar announced that ministers remind the servers not to
block the main aisle as they are awaiting for the processional down the aisle
with father. Apparently, she has instructed them not to block the main aisle
when parishioners are entering the church in the vestibule. They may need
reminding.

4. DOORS:
Fr. Pat has requested the DOORS remain closed during Mass.
With the hot season coming up it was discussed that DOORS NEED TO BE
CLOSED AFTER THE 9:30 AND 11:30 MASSES TO HELP THE AIR CONDITION SYSTEM,
This will help keep the church cool for the later masses.

Saturday 5:00 mass Hospitality ministers need to check temperature with
whomever is in the sacristy as soon as they arrive. (Ministers are to arrive
30 minutes before mass begins.) The last few weeks has received complaints
about how warm it is in the church. Some have had to leave the church.

Connie Holloway presented the closing prayer. “Not Too Far From Here”

“NOT TOO FAR FROM HERE”

Somebody's down to the last dime
Somebody's running out of time
Not too far from here
Somebody's got nowhere to go
Somebody needs a little hope
Not too far from here
And I may not know their name
But I'm praying just the same
That you'll use me Lord
To wipe away the tears
“Cause somebody's crying.

Not too far from here
Somebody's troubled and confused
Somebody's got nothing left to lose
Not too far from here
Somebody's forgotten how to trust
And somebody's dying for love
Not too far from here.

It may be a stranger's face
But I'm praying for Your grace
To move in me
And take away the fear
“Cause somebody's hurting
Not too far from here
Help me. Lord
Not to turn away from pain
Help me, not to rest
While those around me weep
Give me your strength and compassion
When somebody finds
The Road of life too steep.

Now I'm letting down my guard
And I'm opening my heart
Help me speak Your love
To every needful ear
Someone is waiting
Not too far from here
Someone is waiting
Not too far from here

Meeting was adjourned at 9:05 PM. A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL !!
Respectfully submitted by Rose Mary Fiola

Remember: People may forget what you say or do BUT they never forget how you
make them feel.
